Become an Athlete Checklist

Complete each step below to finish your athlete registration and get on the field.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible to participate in Special Olympics, athletes must:

  • Be at least 8 years old (children ages 2½ to 7 are eligible to participate in the Young Athletes program).
  • Be diagnosed by an agency or professional as having one of the following conditions: intellectual disability; a cognitive delay as determined by standardized measures such as intelligence quotient or other generally accepted measures; or a closely related developmental disability, i.e., functional limitations in both general learning and adaptive skills.
  • Agree to uphold the Special Olympics Athlete Code of Conduct.

Sign In or Create Your Account
Log in to the Special Olympics Portal. If you're new, click "Sign Up" to create an account first.

Select "Tri-Cities Area" as Your Region
Use the search or dropdown to find and select Tri-Cities Area as your local program.

Complete the Medical History Form
Go to the "My Checklist" section in the portal and fill out the medical history form and any required releases.
