Application For Participation

  • Each Athlete needs a current Application for Participation (AFP) on file with Special Olympics Washington.
    • The first 2 pages need to be completed by the athlete or guardian.
    • The next 2 pages need to be completed by a physician.
    • The 5th page needs to be signed by the adult athlete or legal guardian.  
  • Upon completion, you can scan it and send it to, or bring it to the front desk at The Arc of Tri-Cities (1455 Fowler Street, Richland) BEFORE the first day of practice.
  • To find out if an AFP is current you can contact Pat at the fron desk of the Arc by phone or in person.



  • Athletes must register for the sport they wish to be involved in.  
    • The Registration Processes vary depending on who runs the program.
    • Information on how to register can be found in the link for each sport.



  • Special Olympic Sports are provided at no cost to athletes (Article 1).
  • Each area is responsible for covering it's own costs.
    • Facilities Rental
    • Equipment
    • Uniforms
    • Local Transportation (i.e. Ski Practices)
  • Athletes and families can raise money
    • Check out an envelope from your coach to acceot cash donations from friends and family.
    • Create a fundraising page to share on social media at
    • Buy/Sell South Central Special Olympics Shirts
      • Order forms available at the front desk at the Arc.
      • Shirts can be bought directly at the front desk of The Arc or from Kelley.
    • Sell Truck Raffle Tickets (April-August).
    • Participate in the Polar Plunge.
    • Participate in Table Fundraising event with your coach.
    • Donate at each practice (i.e. bowling, skiing)
  • Athletes and Families can support fundraising efforts.
    • Attend fundraising events as an ambassador to Special Olympics
    • Participate in coach led fundraisers
    • Promote fundraisers in person and on social media
  • Lack of fundraising may result in teams being ineligible to attend State Games.
