The Arc of Tri-Cities offers a local summer day camp for kids with developmental disabilities that include Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Autism etc...

This is an opportunity for youth ages 11 and up to help kids with and without disabilities to interact and have fun. Limited openings

Who:      Ages 11 and up

Where:   Camps located in Tri-Cities

When:    Minimum of one week commitment during the dates of June 19 and August 16. Camp runs from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.

  • Week 1 - Wed, June 19 - Fri, June 21
  • Week 2 - Mon, June 24 - Fri, June 28
  • Week 3 - Mon, July 1 -Wed, July 3
  • Week 4 - Mon, July 8 -   Fri, July 12
  • Week 5 - Mon, July 15 - Fri, July 19
  • Week 6 - Mon, July 22 - Fri, July 26
  • Week 7 - Mon, July 29- Fri, Aug, 2
  • Week 8 - Mon, Aug 5 -   Fri, Aug 9
  • Week 9 - Mon, Aug 12 - Fri, Aug 16

Requirements:

Volunteers must meet the following requirements in order to participate:

        • Be committed to helping kids with developmental disabilities.
        • Ability to swim daily in public pool
        • Be a positive mentor and role model
        • Age 11 years or older
        • Make a minimum of one week commitment
        • Pass a Washington State Patrol background check
        • Complete the Volunteer Packet.
        • Pass Partners N Pals volunteer training

Training:

All volunteers before attending camp are required to attend Volunteer Training which includes:

  • Overview of the camp
  • Overview of The Arc of Tri-Cities
  • Chain of command
  • Safety
  • Disabilities
  • Calendar of Activities
  • Volunteer Job Description
  • Role Playing on how to handle different situations
  • Standards and Values

Training Class A

Dates: Tuesday May 28th

Time: 4:30pm-6:00pm

Where: The Arc of Tri-Cities

 

Training Class B

Dates: Wednesday June 5th

Time: 4:30pm-6:00pm

Where: The Arc of Tri-Cities

 

Training Class C

Dates: Wednesday June 26th

Time: 4:30pm-6:00 pm

Where: The Arc of Tri-Cities

 

 Swimming:     

Partners N Pals kids swim daily. Swimming occurs in public pools. The following is helpful in making swimming a fun experience.

        • Swimsuits need to be modest and durable (one piece for girls)
        • No cutoffs
        • Swimsuits must be lined– Swimming pools require all boys swimsuits to have a liner
        • Volunteers must be prepared to swim daily

Lunches:

        • Volunteers are responsible to provide their own lunch, snack, and drink.
        • Lunches must be labeled with name of volunteer
        • No refrigeration available

 

Volunteer Cost:

The Arc of Tri-Cities summer camp “ Partners N Pals” participates in a variety of activities including, swimming, bowling, and crafts. The expense of the activities are averaged into a weekly fee.
