The Arc of Tri-Cities is hiring an Executive Director. The Executive Director is responsible for setting the strategic direction and implementing policies in support of The Arc’s mission:

The Arc of Tri-Cities promotes the rights of all people with intellectual and developmental disabilities by actively supporting full inclusion and participation in all aspects of the community throughout their lifetime.

  Organization

The Arc of Tri-Cities believes that having a disability should not prevent someone from enjoying a rich and meaningful life. A 501C(3) nonprofit agency, The Arc of Tri-Cities works to ensure that people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our community, and the people who care for them, enjoy the highest quality of life possible. 

Over 2,400 individuals and their families in Benton and Franklin Counties are served by The Arc of Tri-Cities’ major programs each year, which include Community Access, Day Program, V.I.P., Community Club, Recreation, Transportation, Summer Camps for kids, Buddy Club in the Middle & High Schools, Parent to Parent in Spanish and English, Birth to Three in Spanish and English, and more. The Arc of Tri-Cities also offers support and advocacy to an estimated 200 families.

Position

The Executive Director has overall strategic and operational responsibilities for The Arc of Tri-Cities’ staff, programs, and execution of its mission. The position is responsible for an annual budget of over $2M and provides leadership for 18 full-time, 23 part-time employees, and four Managers. The Executive Director is a creative and driving force for further enhancing the growth and development of the agency, including marketing, fundraising, proposal development, and membership growth.  The Executive Director is an energetic role model and an unwavering advocate, while networking with other professional organizations and representing The Arc of Tri-Cities with government, private agencies, and the community. As the liaison between the Board of Directors and the organization, the Executive Director provides regular operational reviews, legislative updates, and other guidance to the Board of Directors. 

Qualifications

The Executive Director is deeply committed to The Arc of Tri-Cities’ mission. He/she has proven leadership, coaching, and relationship management experience. A demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is critical for the successful candidate. Further, a demonstrated knowledge of and experience in local, county, and state intellectual and developmental disability systems, including an understanding of advocacy and program operations OR the ability to acquire such knowledge within six months of hire is imperative.  The successful candidate must also demonstrate success in organizational leadership and management, including business administration, program management and development, fundraising, and fiscal and personnel management, preferably for a non-profit agency. Excellent human relations and communication skills, including strong written and verbal skills, are critical. In particular, the Executive Director must have a proven ability to speak and write effectively and professionally to a range of audiences, including the media, community leaders, legislators, funding agencies. The ability to obtain funding to support staff and services is a must.

Required:  Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Business, Public Administration, Human Services or other relevant discipline) or equivalent experience, plus a minimum of 10 years of senior level management experience, a valid driver's license, insurance, clean MVR, and successful completion of background check. A Master’s degree is preferred.
